Snug Harbor Wildlife Rescue & Sanctuary
"The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals."
Theophile Gautier
Getting involved in a non-profit organization is always a fulfilling experience! Snug Harbor Wildlife wants our community to be a part of our mission! Since we are a home-based rescue, our volunteer opportunities are a little different than those of other rescue and rehabilitation facilities.
There are a lot more risks with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, this requires certain experience and training. Some of our volunteer opportunities will not be hands-on with our wildlife for that reason, we will have tasks like cleaning cages/laundry, preparing formula/food, event help, administrative tasks, fundraising assistance, and more.
Many activities in non-profits are commonly organized through membership programs. With Snug Harbor Wildlife's membership programs, we have an application process that helps us get to know you better, and how you want to be involved with us and accommodate your schedule.
How to get involved:
Joining our team starts with reaching out with us to talk about your interests in helping our organization. Whether you want to volunteer as needed in a multitude of ways, or learning to rehabilitate these animals, we want to get to know you first! We do not host classes to the public, instead we devote our time and resources in training rehabbers through mentorship and group guidance.
Caring for wildlife is a very delicate and honorable task, one we take seriously and want to make sure all standards are upheld with national rehabilitation guidelines and our state's wildlife regulations.
Volunteer opportunities will also depend on what area of the state you live in, we have rehabbers through out the Midlands and a few other places throughout SC. Some rehabbers have 2-3 animals and others may have dozens and need more help. The season/time of year can also vary with how much help we need. Our biggest need during baby season is help transporting animas from their finders to our rehabbers or other rescues.
We will respond once we have your information reviewed so we can work out the next steps!
We are always thrilled to add to our team and share our passion and lifestyle with our friends, family and neighbors!
